Traditional detailing with modern elements and a touch of warmth
A couple recently moved into a traditional 1920s’ home in the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. Fans of the modern style, they posed the challenge to marry traditional detailing of the house with a more streamlined, modern look. Regal materials were chosen to introduce the modern flair to a house brimming with aged character. The primary area of focus was the master bathroom.
Design Development
The existing space of the bathroom was cramped and uninspiring. The vision for the new proposal would include removing the separation between the bathroom and the closet to create one space that is more functional and beautiful.
Renderings
Upon entry of the bathroom, there is a feature moment – a standing tub with a piece of art above it flanked on either side by windows with a lovely view. The double sided cabinets on either side of the sink provide ample storage space and a sense of balance. The tiled datum and trim detailing on the windows provides that nod to the traditional feel of the house. A dark, dramatic stone tile that wraps from floor to ceiling brings in the monolithic idea that is characteristic of modern design.
